Clue format

How to use the Nonogram solver

Enter each row clue on its own line, then enter each column clue on its own line. For example, a clue of 3 1 means one run of three filled cells and one run of one filled cell, with at least one empty cell between them.

  1. One line per row. The number of row lines becomes the puzzle height.
  2. One line per column. The number of column lines becomes the puzzle width.
  3. Use 0 for empty lines. A clue of 0 means that entire row or column has no filled cells.
  4. Read the steps. The solver shows placements that are forced by row or column possibilities.

Nonogram solver step by step

The solver narrows possible placements for each row and column, then fills cells that are forced by every remaining possibility.

Partial solves are useful

Some hard puzzles require deeper search, but partial line-logic steps still reveal safe progress.
